is Sam Lane’s (my) umbrella for professional work. I thought about calling it “Slow Lane” instead but that felt a bit defeatist. My work includes (but is not limited to):
-> radio presenting
-> podcasting
-> artist management
-> DJ – ing
-> writing
you can find out more about my work in each of these areas by clicking or tapping on the relevant tab below.
I present Weekend Breakfast on triple j and fill in around the grid as needed (most often on Mornings). I learned to make radio at fbi.radio in Sydney, where I presented Friday Mornings for about 3 years. I did pretty much everything at that place, from producing, to coordinating the supporter drive, to serving for a year on the management committee.
I run a podcast with my good friend Kate Saap called ‘Popularity Contest’ where we discuss trends. We both felt like there was a gap in the market for funny yet informed / intellectual based cultural commentary and both of us have radio experience so hey, a match made in heaven i suppose!
I manage a Sydney based folk artist called Sarah Levins. You can check her music out here. I’m biased but I think she’s really good. I moved into management after working at a record label called [PIAS] Australia, where I was the project lead for lots of great records like Floodlights’ ‘Underneath’, Skeleten’s ‘Mentalized’, Fade Evare’s ‘Welcome Back’ and Bumpy’s ‘Kanana.’
I can DJ! I’ve covered shows like Thursday Sunset + Souled Out on fbi.radio, and have gigged here and there around Sydney (one time I DJed at the Sydney Film Festival’s trivia night which was very fun!)
